Sarah Smith seeking Tulsa Public School Board District 6 seat, representing her alma mater in midtown Tulsa

TULSA, Oklahoma – Sarah Smith, a mom to four Tulsa Public Schools students, and a graduate of Nathan Hale High School and The University of Tulsa, has announced she will seek a seat on the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education representing District 6

Sarah actively participates in her kids’ education and has served as an officer on three PTA boards in Tulsa Public Schools over the past 12 years. She is a long-time community volunteer and has served for many years on the board of her neighborhood association. She works in Information Technology at The University of Tulsa and attends Harvard Avenue Christian Church with her husband, Jared, and four sons.

Sarah’s own education is deeply rooted in Tulsa. While a student at Nathan Hale High School, she participated in concurrent enrollment, earning credits at both Tulsa Technology Center and Tulsa Community College. Following graduation from Nathan Hale, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from The University of Tulsa. Her commitment to public education remains deep, as Sarah and Jared also chose to send their four boys to Tulsa Public Schools.

“As a proud graduate of Nathan Hale High School and a mom to four Tulsa Public Schools students, I am thrilled at the opportunity to represent the district of my alma mater in District 6,” Sarah said. “More importantly, I want to ensure my kids, their classmates, and all Tulsa children receive a top-tier education built on students, teachers and families who feel supported by the community and the school district.”

Sarah hopes to focus on attracting and keeping more certified teachers in the classroom and ensuring tax dollars are spent wisely and efficiently. Once elected, Sarah hopes to work with her colleagues on the school board to focus on student outcomes and keep politics and politicians out of the classroom.

“I love Tulsa Public Schools. I am a product of TPS and believe in the district enough to send our four boys through the system. I have volunteered at every level with my kids, from elementary to high school,” Sarah said. “The district I love and have supported for many years is facing critical challenges. I have the right skills and bring the necessary perspective to address the issues facing our schools better than anyone else. I look forward to serving the communities I grew up in and where I still live, work and raise my family.”

Nonpartisan Tulsa School Board primary elections are scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2024. To learn more about voter registration, voter status and more, visit Sarah’s voter information page.
